Glockengasse Synagogue
A Fine Place of Worship
Offenbachplatz, Ecke Glockengasse, 50667 Köln
After their expulsion from Cologne in 1424, Jews were not allowed to settle in the cathedral city again until 1798. In 1801 a Jewish congregation was formed in premises in Glockengasse vacated by the Poor Clares. Constantly growing numbers led in the mid-19th century to the construction of a new synagogue on that site.
Today nothing is left of that building; its foundations probably lie somewhere below Offenbachplatz and the North-South link road.
