Birth of a museum

At the heart of Cologne, MiQua (the Museum in the Quarter) will present 2000 years of city history. The museum will have a triple focus: the Roman praetorium, the medieval Jewish quarter, and the Christian goldsmiths’ quarter. Galleries of exhibits extending over some 600m will enable visitors to experience the life and work of these periods in their original locations. In the new building of the museum, artefacts, sites and biographies provide insights into Cologne’s Jewish history and culture from 1424 to the present.
