Tracing Jewish art and the origins of the collection
Obenmarspforten 40, 50667 Köln
The Wallraf-Richartz-Museum is Cologne’s oldest museum, with works from 700 years of art history, including a number by Jewish artists. Some of these artworks came into the museum’s possession unlawfully during the Nazi era. Finding out where the works came from and how they ended up in the museum is the task of provenance research. Apart from the artworks themselves, Jewish employees like the art historian Luise Straus-Ernst also left their mark on the museum.
