Stolpersteine for the Moses Family

Sponsored by neighbours and people who work nearby, Stolpersteine (stumbling stones) were set in the pavement at Elisenstrasse 3 in 2013, reminding passers-by of the Moses family who lived there.

For many descendants, Stolpersteine commemorating earlier generations of their family in their former hometown have deep symbolic and emotional meaning. Many people travel across the world to an installation ceremony or pay a special visit to the site when they are on vacation. The younger members of the Moses family are no exception: they came specially to see the Stolpersteine for their family when they visited Cologne.

In 2017 a street in the Dellbrück district of Cologne was called after Elisabeth Moses. A lack of local reference was felt, however, and after considerable debate a different name was chosen for that street. As an alternative, a street in the Porz district will now bear her name.
