Entertainment on the Rhine

The Kaiserhof opened as a hotel and restaurant in 1899, but from the mid-1920s it was best known for its variety theatre, with a programme probably inspired by the Scala in Berlin. In 1931 it was taken over by the Blatzheim restaurant chain and redesigned. Its last programme brochure is dated mid-1943. After destruction of the original Kaiserhof in World War II, the owner opened a new venue with the same name on the Hohenzollernring. This staged a similar range of shows until the early 1960s.
