A house with many functions

Until its forced dissolution, the Jewish Rheinlandloge (Rhineland Lodge) used the building. It was turned into a community centre in 1935, with a stage installed in the large ballroom for theatrical performances by the Jewish Cultural Confederation of the Rhine and Ruhr. As well as a library and clubroom, the house had a café and restaurant offering a wide variety of kosher dishes.

In 1941 and 1942, the building was used as a ghetto house. A year later, it was sold to a private individual who partially rented it out to Nazi organisations and the police. The building was destroyed during the war.
